Ok that's not totally true, I didn't get him anyway. I did hunt for him for 2 mornings but never saw him at all. Now all summer and fall I have seen him many times either on camera or in the flesh. Season starts and poof he's a ghost LOL. I did get my doe first day so maybe it's my punishment for not waiting on what I wanted. Ok Saturday I took my DIL out, she has never hunted anything but a few squirrels (with a 410), it was rainy and cold but she stuck it out. About 10 a fat doe walked out, and we waited until it was well in range for the BP rifle. She had not shot this particular rifle before but she worked it perfectly. Only trouble was after the deed and it laid there kicking, very few just drop and never move. Well she went to crying and I do not do crying women period. finally got her calmed down. Probably 2 or 3 minutes but seemed like forever.
We get back and I let the boys and her hubby fetch and dress the deer. I had them wrap it in plastic and let it hang a few days to age. She did help with the dressing and said the hardest part was pulling the skin off. I think my son deliberately did that, we have hooks in the floor to use for that.... I think he doesn't want her to get to deep in hunting because he will have to share his so-called private time when hunting LOL. Hey, I like hunting with the girls and grandkids. Anyway, the older daughter was there and ask if I was going that afternoon, nope I was still cold and damp. I told her where I though she should set and we discussed which rifle she would use. Ok all of my offerings were shot down, she wanted to go old school. So off she goes, and I head home, I pull in the drive when she is calling, she took MY deer LOL. Ok I did lift the hunting ban on him but geez she didn't even give me a proper chance. But it is what it is now. She did not think about pictures because it's just a deer to her. I do have a picture from 2 days prior I will post here. She used a 50cal Pennsylvania sidelock not sure if it was round ball or other, she likes the 40cal pistol bullet in a sabot but I don't know here. To help my hurt feelers she did give me the head and cape for mounting. LOL. He's not our biggest but he was my half arsed pet.
