A friend sent me this article and it got the wheels turning between these ears.
He's not a shooter and I replied that the powder mfg's, primer mfg's, lead smelters, etc. here in the states have really shrunk in numbers since WWII, and especially in the past 20 years when the Democrats had the power. I told him that I'd do some inquiring as to where the powder/lead/primer mfg's were that were supplying the USA are now.
With the Feds gutting the powder, lead and primer mfg's here within the States, where do all those components come from now? I know that there is a plant in Florida that supplies powder to the Feds, but I believe not to us recreational shooters. I can't remember their name. I believe primers are still made at the Lake City mfg. facility, but where else?
I have the following powders and countries:
IMR - Canada (don't know if it's true across all the powders that they sell)
Hodgdon - Canada (and Australia) Same as ^^^^^.
Alliant - Switzerland and Same as ^^^^.
VihtaVuori - Sweden?
Ramshot (Western Powders) -Belgium
Where are the lead smelters and where are all the other powder mfgs located in the world that ship powder to the USA? If SHTF, where can the materials be sourced here in N. America and where can the materials be changed to finished products?
