Ok to set this up I had the girl all day yesterday and we got a lot done (who an I kidding she pushed me pretty hard to get today free) doing all my small honey doo's and a few things I just been lagging on. Well anyways we moved my crossbow to get to some stuff behind it. Well that led to a discussion about hunting. She said she cant go yet because she has bought her license. So about 7 last night we ended up at Walmart to get her a deer tag - she doesnt need a license because of her age. OK be warned Walmart wasnt happy because only ID she has is her school ID which is legal for this state. Guy tried to get her to get a license and I told him she is hunting on family property and state doesnt require one. SO after the AM (assistant manager) came to verify she coudl buy the tag without a license we got that out of the way. SO then she needed some hers doesnt fit this year. Well no she has grown by leaps and bounds from the little wise acre last to a nice mannered girl this year. Ok she did lets flay fluff up too.. SO we got that taken care of for a start dad can buy the rest LOL.
SO this morning BEFORE I could unhooked she was in asking when I was getting up - we are going to miss the deer. told her when I got off the machine she would be the first to know LOL.
Got up dressed and we headed for the convenience store on the way. got coffee and snacks and headed out. got to the farm and saw 2 flags on the gate - our way of telling others who is hunting there. One daughter and grandson. Called to find out with stands they were using and we took another. I parked closer than normal to the stand but I didnt want to run out of air and mess things up badly.
We got in the stand and she was still sipping on her coffee when I told her she needed to get ready if she expected to get anything but coffee. She got all set and we waited and watched a few squirrels tease us. About 20 minutes after really getting ready to hunt a group of does walked into view - still out of range but they were her first deer this season and she got all exited. I am glad it took them a few minutes to get closer lol and she still ansy but at lease not shaking. WE waited until all of them were in range and I told her to pick one and let go. Ok all of them were smallish but she chose the largest and after a few minutes of just driving gpa nuts but just setting there and not shooting she finally shot and thankfully she hit the doe and it only ran about 40 yds before it stopped and stood there bleeding out I guess but it slowly fell down.
SO now she is ahead of her dad and most other hunters here LOL. the daughter and grandson both connected - she took a fat doe and he culled a deformed buck.
So I called her dad and told him to get the hist ready for their first deer the girl has one laying here. So after a few pictures - I can post one she is not in LOL. Mom is still on the post no pictures because of her age, ok I get it but i dont need reminded everytime I get a good picture of her. so here is her deer - I am setting here watching her and dad skin it now - she is in the way much more than helping but he is a very good dad... He said now she will get to help process it - mostly ground meat and back straps but I am sure her will do some jerky too.
So here is the picture of her doe. Only gripe I have is I lost a $12 arrow because she fell on that side and broke it.
