Hi All, so I'm relatively new to reloading, just about 2 years or so, but I just bought my 5th press. I should have bought this right away. 8 die turret press by Luman. What a nice machine, and so much faster. You don't need think as much, just make sure you put the powder in! You do have to pay attention as you are moving faster!
My first was a lee challenger, I returned it. It just felt cheap. Then a Rock Crusher that's a nice single stage, and I got a good deal, then I got the C frame Lee to use for de-priming and speed things up a little! Then I got a great deal on the Lyman C frame. I really liked that and gave the Lee to my brother. Lyman is a name I am familiar with as my dad had Lyman stuff and I have some old Lyman molds. I found I like that as much as the Rock Crusher for most operations. I used them together and it was going OK Until I saw the Lyman turret press on sale, and I had Amazon points, and a gift certificate, so I bought it.
I love that I can leave it set up for the two cartages I use most. I have the other two still set up for quick runs, I haven't used the priming tube, as I have the Lyman handheld priming tool. Seems like it would be faster. My lesson learned is DON'T BE CHEAP! I should have put more time into researching. I convinced myself I can be a humble lad and do one phase at a time with a single press. For another lousy $100.00 I could have had a good quality turret press!
I'm loading 200-300 round batches, so it makes sense for me. You might be doing 20-50 round batches, and it might not for you but to me for the little bit extra it is well worth it! Right now, it is $215.00 and comes with the priming tube! I would recommend it to anyone starting out or moving up from a single.
