I have been looking into building something on an AR in 25cal for a while but with the current back order situation I about gave up. Well last Monday the kids went back to school and the house was just to quiet. I hit the internet and had my butt glued to the chair for nearly 4 hrs solid and found nada... I narrowed my search down to the 25/45 Sharps but buying one finished is a joke or at least for a common man it is. So I started digging for the parts and pieces on line.. I finally gave up and decided to hit the shop (after a nap) to prep some lead for smelting. I had most of it ready when my helper got there to help. We got the range screenings poured into a mixer with water and let it spin for about 30 minutes - dumped the the dirty gunk out a few times then dumped it in a wheel barrow and poured that in a corner of the shops floor. We put the forced air heater on it and decided we needed a snack - more or less forgot about until later and by then the heater had ran out of fuel but the pile was dry and still warm.
Got up Tuesday to an email from a guy who heard I was hunting a barrel and he just happen to have A genuine ARC 25/45 Sharps barrel he would part with. So I now own that and somehow the shipping gods give me a pass as it only took 4 days to get here.. So in the mean time I started looking for a side charging upper - not many places to find those and that has not changed. I did find the one I wanted and sure enough - backordered but I added my name to the list. While at the same site I got the BCG and gas block ordered and they are shipping next week. I told the man as soon as I get the upper I will get started buying more trinkets to go with the parts I have ordered. Kind of hoping the thought of more sales will help me move up the list.. So now its back to waiting again - I had forgot just how much fun waiting is not.. I set and think about when my 264RLB was being gathered up - only took 2 yrs of order and wait then play it again. I have been gathering odd and ends for this build (ammo wise) for a while I am ready there, now for the real wait to begin.
I have things to keep me occupied while I wait this time, with the RLB I was still working and that kept me busy LOL. I let the small foreman talk my into buying a WELL used feed grinder so we would have a winter project.. Its in such great shape there is no way to get the money back so we will have to use it LOL... But on the flip side he will learn more about welding.... He is a pretty good wrench man now and he isnt afraid to work, its his older helper than may peter out on him more often now.
