Mentioned in my "casting equipment" post and decided while fresh in my mind I'd post the source list and simplified programing video.
I built the same unit as described on Johnny’s Reloading Bench but modified mine just a bit as indicated below. Components were all sourced through Amazon, however, since I built this almost a year ago, some of these links may not be current.
If you watch the JRB build videos you'll see why I recommend a slightly bigger minibox, why make the build miserable when there's absolutely no need to.
Parts list follows...
Bud Industries, CU-3008-A electronics minibox. It measures 7” x 5” x 3” but is too tight IMO. I recommend the CU-3009-A (8” x 6” x 3.5”) or the CU-3010-A (10” x 6” x 3.5”) so you’re not fighting with trying to jam everything in. The 3010 is not available on Amazon but there are other sources.

Instead of hard wiring cords to the box, I used these for the power and pot AC cables (have several cords left over from computer upgrades). I replaced the male end on one so I didn’t have to cut the pot cord. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2T2N1W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Wire, crimp terminals, fuses, and some feet for the box. Did lots of wiring during my USAF career as an electronics tech, automotive, and marine. I now use marine grade wire (tinned) for everything and also use marine grade heat shrink (adhesive lined) on every connection. I chose the solder style IEC320 over screw style for fit and they work fine. I used stranded 14awg since max current with the 500w pot is just over 4amps. The thermocouple from the BC kit is plug and play and required no modifications, just the panel mount.
The JRB videos are lengthy, and much of what he covers is for those with no experience so I skipped a LOT of his rambling. His PID tuning video is 45min long and confusing, this one is much better IMO, easy to understand, and only 11mins.
