Anyone played with this powder? I picked up some and even though I hate a spherical/ball type powder, its proving to do good in the 204 so far.I got the 204 down to holes at 100 yards real fast and haven't played much.My H332 and Varget load was just fine but wanted to try it.My 204 starts to open groups up after 30 rounds and I began with a clean barrel so we shall see if there is anything to this copper eraser spit.I can say it has a funny burning smell unlike any powder ive ever used and didn't have to try very hard to get the 39grn SBK to drive holes.I might try some in the 22-250 next for giggles also.
I haven't done any research on this powder to see if its temp tolerant like Varget or some of H extreme line but time will tell. This is critical in the 204 from what ive seen because the narrow gap between MIN TO MAX is very small.I had some 4895 drive holes one day at 45 degree and split necks at 80.Anyway,i like it so far.One thing I seen last weekend when playing was CCI primers started to crater at 3538 fps so I put the same charge in the cases along with REM 7 1/2 primers. They barely started to crater at 3618 fps as I was slowly bumping up the charge .1 at a time.Sure, this means the pressure is rising but the web was good so I can go at tad higher. If you don't own a 204 then in a way you don't understand because ive shot three differ rifles using factory rounds and the primers are cratered real good.
Either the 7 1/2 primer has a darn thick cup or they throw less flame compared to CCI.I wish we had them pics of differ primer flames on here that someone put on the OLD RLB. Im leaning on the cup thickness because the FPS was about the same with both primers/same charge.Im sure most know but REM 6 1/2 is for the 22 HORNET or such. The REM 7 1/2 is a bench rest primer and best for 222 and up.
