Today I stumbled into a older Savage M12 in 300AAC. Not keeping it for anything other than the action. Tupperware stock and barrel are not going to be used. Barrel is heavy SS that is threaded.. It has been painted with duracoat I think but not sure need to call the guy who built it. I got it in trade for some work but was told the guys dad built it and then never did like it.. I think he was using heavy cast subsonics in it but still need to ask more questions. The man said he only shot it with the ammo that came with it - less than 50 rounds and not sure how many times his dad fired it. Again more questions to ask LOL..
Not sure where I am headed but I do have a .243 barrel up in the shelf that needs to be used for something. Since its set up with the 223 bolt face am looking to keep that just not sure about a new wildcat or go with something easier to find things for. Go with a 6TCU and let the kids have it for paper punching.. With no recoil they can work on their trigger control and who knows it may turn into a nice range toy. Not to sure about hunting with it until they under stand its range. I think find the right bullet and if could be a deer rifle with 30-30 ranges.. And I wont cringe if it does end up in a blind some day. And for fun I have several tupperware stocks I can fit to large and small framed people if needed.
Any suggestions - the 243Win is out - got one that kicks and no one wants to even get it out anymore. A 221 necked down might be fun for paper too.. Just to much to think on right now..
