Got up this morning and while doing breakfast got a call from one of the boys who has been working for us. He and dad ask about learning to reload for a couple of pistols and he was checking on if today would be a good day to start. Well since we ARE NOT farming today I said sure why not.... I told him to bring what brass they had saved and come on over. then when the boys got down I told them the scoop. Ok they like this boy too and scarfed down their breakfast like normal -- ravenous dogs.. so they would be free when they got here.
When they got here they brought with them a couple gallon bags of 9mm and 38 spl empties... Ok to short cut the morning I suggested we just trade out the brass for some we have prepped. Dad was a little slow to accept - he wants to learn it all. So we head out to the gunroom and I show him what I am talking about and add they can go ahead and prep the brass just as a slower speed so they catch on quicker. So the boys show them how to fill the wet washer and the corncob buzz bucket so they understand each way. They get down the de-priming press and show the boy how to work it as dad and I got thru the books for loads that will work without a lot of trouble.. Good thing is they brought the pistol for both calibers.. After looking at the store bought stuff they were using I thought about trying our practice loads in all of them. We lucked out or we just have good universal loads for said calibers.
So while dad and I ran to the local GS to pick up the goodies we left the boys de-priming only - word was do not proceed any farther if we are not back by the time they finish.. No way it will happen but a good warning just the same. So at the shop we pick up a box of each, 155gr fmj and 115gr Hp for the 9mm and a box of 125gr FP for the 38. I am looking at the FMJ for plinking/practice and the FP for everything. A pound of power pistol and 300 WSP primers.. and a few trashed boxes from the range side to store the reloads in. Got back here and now dad is having his turn de-priming LOL.. ok he may be the real deal - he is not just popping the primer but looking over each case before he does it to make sure its worth the work. One thing he will not do is be charged with speed.. LOL
I came in for us a cup of coffee -- yes I can have decaf now --- not really good but a man can only drink so much water before it starts to taste bad too. So back out just thought I would start this, it should be interesting for here at least. It would seem that my boys told his that I can be a mean man when it comes to reloading. Dad brought it up and I told him I can be a prick but so far none of my pupils have been hurt reloading, have had a few not pay attention but God watches over the morons too...
