I traded for a rifle a month or so back and got it to shooting for hunting but like all of us I wanted better.. In my spare time I have lapped the barrel and bolt lugs, bedded the stock (a waste of time in my eyes but others like the stock for fit) added weight front an rear for better balance. Then spent an actual 2hrs just on the trigger to get it like I wanted. Then another 15 minutes adding pressure until I think its a safe pull for others to hunt with.
Took a known load educed it by 5% and started over with its loads. I was setting it up for small framed peoples... IE women. I tried to work on it this morning since all the kids had school work and I had no interruptions - or so I thought. Hay sales went nuts and I did end up with a helper. But that played into the finished product too.. Well its not finished but we have it down to her shooting bugholes at 75yds out the shop door off a not sturdy enough portable shooting bench.. I will post the finished load works when we are finished but I am keeping it in the book levels using Varget and she is liking it.
So we took a few pictures of the rifle as of now, I am sure there will be a few more changes after everyone goes back to work and I part with it. The girl has got this one into the mind set of needing a Nightforce on a hunting rifle -- longest shot I see possible here is just over 250yds -- kind of like smearing lipstick on a hog and taking it to the dance -- but is just my views, once it is no longer mine we will go where ever the owner thinks it needs so to go.. Got a good 4x16x40 scope on it now and she does fine with it to date.. All it needs now is for me to get the cheek riser finished - she didnt like the old school lace on leather one
Anyway the picture then we go teach MY way of clean.... Not just wipe one down for the safe either but clean it like you used it...
