Hello all,
I wish I could carry a custom folding knife, but I'm limited to a factory unit. Was curious as to what your everyday carry pocket knife is?
I never realized I had a thing for knives, but I think it's mostly what people get me for gifts, I carry 1 of 2 knives, both Case. I'm not partial to Case because they're made an hour away from me, they are a great utility knife, easy to sharpen, hold an edge well, lifetime warranty, and affordable. As a maintenance mechanic, I make sure I have my pocket knife before my cell phone, lol.
My usual carry knife is a 2 blade 3.5" trapper, my backup unit is a 3 blade 2.6" stockman. I bought the stockman at the factory, but I prefer the trapper since my best friend gave it to me, it's a limited edition fish and game model. I imagine it's more for display, but I'm not big on that, I have a few limited edition NRA case knives I won't use, but other than that, I use what I have.
I use them pretty regularly, I usually touch up the edges once a week with a Lansky sharpener, I could probably go longer, but with my method I can eliminate the course stone, and just a few passes with the medium, fine, and ultra fine stones bring it back to being scary sharp.
One thing I learned about having a good, sharp knife is it is safer, but one time like a dumbass I was cutting a zip tie and the blade slipped, I got 13 stitches out of that, lol. I've since learned that even if it takes 20 minutes to get a pair of diagonal cutters to remove a zip tie, you do it.
Thanks,
bobcat2
