I have always heard that VihtaVuori was a very clean burning powder. Was doing some research on the 570 and learned a lot so I dug deeper. Take this with a grain of salt and don't remember half out what I came up with.
The use many raw materials in their process. They grow their own cotton to produce nitro- cellulose. Decoppering agent is added, nitro-cellulose / nitroglycerine is impregnated into the grains, for more FPS and lower pressure. The grains of powder is sifted through a certain screen to insure all is very close to the same size and broken / chipped grains is less common. I can vouch for that and use a good bit of the stuff. This provides consistent surface area for consistent burn / pressure and small deviations in FPS spread. Temp insensitive also that you never see writing on the jugs. Yes, they have changed things over the years and not all was like this at one time. They claim that you need not to worry about lot to lot consistency and not sure if all series is Premium or not.
Here is a good one and they plain out say,, storage of their powders at a certain temp and humidity,, sealed in the jug,, is a minimum of ten years. The 500 series is mainly for precise long range and such, where you need very low spread in FPS. Just wanted to share some info and I love the stuff in certain things but hate the price and availability. Some of the 500 series has almost the same burn rate of,, say 165. Guess it might have nitroglycerine add where the others don't and not sure. I need to read the article again. Pretty neat, I thought.
