With newer carts out in the last 10 or so years, I'm just plain out impressed with the 6.5 creed. Hornady did good and my next rifle will be, the 300 PRC. 375 necked down with some changes. Standard bolt face design and nothing special. They designed it to handle 150 to 230 or so pills. The great thing is you can have a rifle for short range or 2 miles. When you take a say, 7mm mag and put a new world , high B.C. bullet in it,, the base goes way down in the case,, in order to function in the throat / lands groves. This just causes problems with wobbling when the ignition is started. Some bullets have huge air gaps between the base and powder charge,, or gets crunched down into the charge.
The Creeds and PRC's, take care of many problems and the design of the case and slight free bore / tighter chamber just works. I found that a round like these and the Nosler's,, give lower S.D. and E.S. Sure, you can take any round and find the perfect load,, but these are more forgiving and will eat about anything you feed them well. The burn time is more even in the barrels, due to the design of it,,, compared to powders and primers. I remember when I first got the creed and people said the slow twist sucked and couldn't shoot light bullets. BS and they will send a 85 pill just as accurate as a 147,,,, at close range.
The 300 PRC is coming but I'm not going to do like I did with the 28 nosler. I'm getting a few hundred pieces of brass first and then decide about the rifle. I have no idea when or how many brands will pop up first, but if Christensen chambers it and offers it like the long range mesa,, its mine.
