I'm going to reload some 165g Accubonds for a buddy to hunt with. He wants to be able to shoot from 50 to 400 yds. His gun shoots the factory Federal Gold Medal Match 168g loads very well, and I don't know how well the SMK will do if a deer is close. So, I thought that since the Accubond bullets have a good rap for accuracy and holding together I will try them.
It will be a convoluted trail. I don't have his gun, but I have mine that shoots better than his, so I will take some of the factory ammo that he gave me and I'll shoot it in mine to get a fps reading. I know how fast they were going in his, so I'll load them to the same base to ogive reading as the factory stuff, and dial the fps so it's the same as the factory stuff too. Then give him the ammo to try in his gun.
As for case prep, I did the following to his once fired brass, I have 18 pieces to play with now, and I will have 2 more once I get a fps reading from my gun. Trim to 2.005", deburr and chamfer with a VLD chamfer tool. Deburr flash hole, uniform primer pocket. Neck size only. These are once fired (in the gun they will be fired in again) Federal Gold Medal Match cartridges.
case weights varied from 175.5 to 177 grains for 18 pieces that I weighed. 4 were 177.0 I will use those to set powder charge by velocity. The other cases I won't shoot in my gun. The neck dia of the fired brass is the same whether it's fired in my gun or his. Hopefully that will help me get it dialed in asap. TL-15 powder, Federal 210 Match primers.

I'm not concerned about accuracy in my gun, all I want to do is match the fps reading of the factory ammo.
