I been busting my butt to get things ready for my trip. I bought a bunch of boxes of Fed gold match factory rounds awhile back very cheap. They was the 130 Berger and shot like crap in my rifle. I pulled all down to just have extra brass. I weighed all and they come in , within .5 or less of each other. Heck yeah and should shot good. WRONG and the water column is way different from the Nosler brass and groups was horrible. I know to start low and work up with different brass and I did,, but cant find a sweet spot anywhere and was hoping they shot the same as the Nosler brass. Wrong again and don't take this the wrong way, but this is not the first time,, IVE HATED FED brass.
Its got to be the brass, because I can shoot a tiny group with the nosler and didn't even prep it at my best. Id venture to say that a man could change powder and make the Fed brass do good , but don't have time for that nonsense right now. I noticed that 44.5 grains filled the FED brass up , more than in the nosler brass and figured I could back the charge off some and get the same FPS and Accuracy. Hasn't happened yet today and doubt it ever will. It was worth a try but no luck, so far. Bolt lift was hard at 43.2 grains of R17 and got worse , every .1 up.
Like I said, no ones fault but mine and shouldn't have waited to get my ducks in a row. Now I only have 35 or so , very accurate rounds to play with. I'm a freaking JA for pushing time and bound and determined to get things right. I will never pull this fool trick again.
