I received this from a friend this morning and its not all good.
My email To Hodgdon of 3 days ago...
--------------------------------------->
Gentlemen,
Many rumors have been circulated in recent days as regards what the powder manufacturers are doing/not doing/going to do in order to provide some relief to those that choose to load their own cartridges. I'm reasonably certain Hodgdon is doing all that may be done to remedy these shortages during these times of unprecedented demand.
However, one persistent bit of hearsay is that the IMR brand of powders will be abandoned within a short period of time. Of particular interest to me is IMR-PB which I'm informed is to be discontinued.
Are you able to shed some light on this matter? Will the IMR brand go the way of Hercules,Curtis and Harvey, Dupont, Laflin & Rand among others? Will IMR-PB be relegated to the past?
Kind regards,
GC

Well, there is some truth to most rumors and this is true in this instance. We, Hodgdon Powder Company, have decided to discontinue some powders which simply do not sell well enough to pay their own way and we are rebranding some other powders to realign the types of products with traditional makers. IMR (Improved Military Rifle) powders is having powders for handguns and shotguns rebranded to Hodgdon such as 700x and 800x will now be Hodgdon branded products while the rifle line of IMR is strengthened and products add. IMR Powder Company certainly will remain in business now and into the future but it will be focused on its roots; rifle powders.
We are discontinuing the following powder simply for the economics of the situation. These powders simply do not sell and they tie up operating capital.
IMR PB
IMR 7625
IMR 4756
IMR 4759
IMR 4007SSC
Winchester AALiteWinchester Supreme 780
Hodgdon Pyrodex P5030 Pellets
I hope this puts the rumors to rest
