Im officially done with my 6.5 creedmoor. I have two loads that are just amazing for accuracy and have tested both on good and bad days. The group will open up on both loads when the baro pressure and temps do funny things but all is .1 to .4 ,,,, if I do my part. The rifle seems to shoot best at 5 to 30 rounds down the pipe with both bullets and powder.
Its tuned in and have all the data I need to bust eyeballs out to 600 yards with the scope that's on it now. It will be even better, once I get the 6x24 and can reach out to 1000 yards with the 143 bullet. This has been a very fun rifle to play with and don't believe that low recoil BS ,, if it is a 6 pound rifle. Now the heavy ones, kick like a kitten but I didn't want a heavy barrel or rifle. This Weatherby is perfect for carrying around and has its pro's and con's. The recoil is like a 308 with a 150 or more grain pill , in the same class of weight,, with the 143 bullet.
I haven't tested very many bullets as I wont to , but I see no since to waste money on stuff that im pretty sure isn't going to fly good. I was kinda baffled that the 130 Accubond didn't do well but that's life. Many powders was tested on this journey and most did ok,, if you like .75 to 1.5 inch at 100 yards. That's not me, plain and simple. I refuse for a good bolt gun to do so and if it does,, it finds a new home. Im very pleased with it and one of my constant hole burners. It was actually to easy and didn't give me much back talk , from day one / out the box.
A good 120 grain bullet would be nice for hunting with but I see no problem with the SMK and taking nothing but head and neck shots. That is one thing that doesn't bother me and I don't care if I miss a head at 400 to 800 yards. That means I don't have to do any work. Heck, missing is more fun than killing to me.
