Hello all,
I'd like to put my personal data on a computer program because I'm getting to the point I can't remember if I've been there and done that, lol. A guy at work who is good with computers is willing to help, but I want to get some ideas on if what I want can be done before we start.
I'd like to use Excel because its on every computer and my tablet, so I could input data anywhere, anytime, I just have no ideas of it's capabilities.
I'd like to set this up like a paper load book of sorts...Here may be a sloppy way I'd like it...
Open the program, I see two choices, "my loads", and "dad's loads". I click on "my loads", and that takes me to a list of my calibers. From there, say I choose 30-06, it brings up all of my 30-06 loads I could scroll through if I want. I'd like to have a filter or search option, say I want to only look at 180 gr. bullets, then at 180 gr. bullets using IMR 4350. I'd also like a rating system on each load, like 1-5 stars, or maybe just a numeracal designation of 0-5, which could also be a filter option. I can picture it in my head, but I don't have the skills to do anything much on any computer program.
He was talking about a system of hyperlinks or something, I won't lie, I was lost early in that conversation.
Any of ya'll that have computer skills think this is possible?
Can this be done on Excel, or other standard(free) programs?
I've seen some neat data programs online, and they want neat money for them too...It may be a pain inputing my data into a homespun program, but if its free, I'm usually pretty willing to do it.
Just a very small example of how lacking my skills are, I tried to make a simple log sheet for a generator, just a sheet with date, time, hours, notes, name on Excel, the rest, you filled in by hand...I think I printed 20 blank sheets before I was able to shut the printer down. I've seen presentations and slides he has done on Excel, and I was rather impressed.
Thoughts/ideas/reccomendations?
Thanks,
bobcat2
