I have been doing this for about three years now and very easy to do. Some get deep in this but this simple way, works fine. What is the benefits of doing this? Some claim to get more FPS but telling you,,, 12 FPS isn't why I do it. I do it because it keeps the cooper fouling down and easier on good, smooth barrels. I only moly coat for rifles that is shooters and hand lapped to 1000 grit.
It does help in rough bores also and cleaning is so much more pleasant. Kroil oil removes moly fouling pretty easy if some wonder and after a few hundred rounds down a perfect cleaned barrel, with moly coated bullets,,, life gets better.
Clean the bullets real good with alcohol or any fast drying degreaser. Make sure to clean your hands of natural oils and try not to touch the bullets at all,,, with your hands.
Put about 1/16 of a teaspoon of Moly in a good pill bottle with locking lid and seal. Add 50 or so bullets and TAPE the lid up tight for reassurance. Put in your simple tumbler for 30 minutes or so.
Remove from tumbler and dump on a cloth towel that you don't need any more and wipe excess moly off. Put bullets back in the box and done. The bearing surface of the bullet is the only thing you need coated , so don't sweat it if the other parts of the bullet doesn't look the same. When degreasing the bullets, it hard to get all surface clean,,, unless you go anal over looks. Bearing surface is what needs to be cleaned the most. Here is a pic and have the Bergers running in the tumbler now.
