I tried some 100 grain NBT's in it yesterday and it would walk the dog at 100 yards. The 4th shot was me because a horse fly scared the snot out of me, about the time I touched the trig. Today was site in and not searching for groups because I got that part down yesterday and sent it out to 220 yards. Im not going any further with this until it cools down some.
Not sure how the 100 grain will do on deer but think it will be fine. FPS is only 2986 and this 18" pipe and short action, kills the real potential for it. This rifle has never liked hot but will shoot very well if I do my part. 2986 fps, shouldn't make the NBT, blow up or don't think so. Ive killed many deer with the 120 NBT in my 7mag and it is moving along good.
Anyone used the 100 grain NBT in 6.5 to hunt with? This rifle hates heavy bullets for some reason but will shoot like a dream with 85 to 100. Ive had it for years so no need to tell me a 140 or so is better. Heavy long bullets are great but not in this 2.800 mag and short action. I have tried before and most printed 4 to 8" groups at 200 yards plus. Ive had many to say its a 700 ADL but had to show them different. It is a REM MOD 673 and took the rib off the barrel. Its a shooter for sure and a very good gun smith made it that way.
I bought it used and guessing it only had a few boxes of factory rounds down the pipe. It shot 12" at 250 yards and sent REMMY a letter. They had me to send it to a man down south and he made it come alive. I floated the barrel and done the trig/lock time,,, made it better. No 264 mag for sure but it will shoot like heck.
