The morning was perfect for some bench time. 68 degree and no wind at all. I sorted 6 Rem cases by weight ( w.c. is the correct way but didn't get that jiggy with it) and fire formed them to my CZ chamber with some cheapo 55 FMJ and 18 grains of CFE powder.
I started at 25 .1 grains of Varget and changed the charge .2 at a time and seating depth .003 ,,, until I got that baby to do what I wanted it to. Cleaned the barrel half A$$ every 12 shots and it will plain out eat the 69 SMK's very well with the 1-10 twist. All shots on the last charge would have been under 1/2 inch if I would have let the barrel cool. #5 and #6 was because the barrel heated up to 124 degree and 70 to 98 degree seemed to do best. Ran three across the chrony and getting an average of 2978 FPS and very happy with the results. This load is hot but that's what it took to hit the node of accuracy. Not real hot but just saying by books info. I could go another .2 tenths of a grain but see no need to.
Im about .021 off the lands and they fit the mag so all is good. I spent a lot of time on this one,, doing things perfect. Flash holes was uniformed and brass prepped the best I could. I didn't touch the scope in this test at all and this load should be good out to 320 or so, holding dead on with 2" up or down from 25 to 320 yards. Havent got that far yet and just guessing. Varget was great for it but was told that by others in the gun shop a year or more ago when shooting the bull. That damn powder has treated me good in everything I have dumped it in. 4064 is good but Varget is great in my mind and playing. Here it be and proud as a peacock.
There was a man on here that went by Tcups and he played with neck turning and ladder test in his CZ. It shot like hell and remember what he told me. His 308 CZ wasn't no slouch either.
