I noticed something about the 240 brass.
It don't matter if you run it hot or mild or just shooting the factory ammo,,most will not fit into the RCBS shell holder after firing.I thought it was me running them hot but that's not it.Im not sure but I think the 240 rim/whatever is held to, so tight tolerances that it isn't funny.Hell,im pushing the 257 beyond any books and that baby don't come alive until I do.
Its not the gun, bolt face or my hand loads that's doing this.I might get a Lee shell holder or something differ because I feel deep down its not on my part. The brass fits the bolt face fine but not the #2 RCBS shell holder.
I need to buy some brass and thinking of trying some Norma brass instead of Weath.Yea they say both are the same with a differ headstamp but I beg the differ. My 257 loves the Weath verses the Norma that Blue-dot gave me.Not much differ in them but I could see it at 500 yards. Ive been shooting my and his brass for over a year and only lost a few due to one cracked neck and a very loose primer pocket.
The 240 is very differ and my 20 pieces of brass is going down hill fast.I was hoping to get 30 handloads out of them but that shit will not happen.
WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH NOT FITTING THE SHELL HOLDER? Im neck sizing until the bolt gets snug to close and bumping the shoulder back just .001 when FLS just like I do the 257. This still has me puzzled because like I said,I HAD ONLY ONE BOX OF FACTORY ROUNDS and some of them does the same on the first boom.
I will bring my mic home Monday from work and got a good feeling it will tell the story but not sure. I just wonder if a #10 Lee shell holder will help because ive seen LEE holders be more forgiving over the years on some things. Not saying Lee is bad but most has a tiny window of forgivness compared to RCBS or Lyman from my years of being stupid.
