Blue, you got the picture about right. It was pretty funny and one spot was over my head. Had to keep a float with one hand for about 15 yards and hold the rod up high at the same time.
Mark, I would love to but my pockets aren't deep as some think. I could save up for a few years and do about anything but just not a traveling kind of person. 4 hours of driving is about all I can stand. We have some very good trout fishing here in the mountains and its in my blood bad. It keeps me half way in shape and highly relaxing to me. How could walking miles thru hell and back be relaxing? Ive asked my self that question many times but it just is to me. I spit you not, I sat on the bank and LOL with a big smile on my face and was thinking, IM FREAKING GOING CRAZY. Drove home naked as a jay bird because I didn't want my seat wet.
I told Blue a few days ago that I was about done chasing trout,,, and carp, musky was next. What did I do? Went trout fishing the next damn morning because I know their is more big fish left in the creek at my house. Ive been putting most back lately and the water is warming up in the creeks and hatcheries. They just don't taste as good now. Winter is best for keeping and eating the stocked trout in my mind.
Im truly quitting after maybe one more time because I get to excited and don't watch where im putting my feet. A copperhead or water snake is going to get me if I keep on. It is time to float the river instead of walking the banks. My mind goes blank and pretty much ate up with trout fishing. Its a challenge that drives me to catch big fish or 6 to 30 in a day. Lord only knows how many that I threw back in the last 4 months and smile like heck,, when others are a few yards from me and cant even get a bite. Its something that im good at and makes me happy.
Generally, I keep to myself but found a new fishing partner at work last year. He is ate up with it like me. We get along great and try to out do each other. He calls me golden rod and I call him skip jack. Ever seen Skip Jack's? He uses 10# low vis green line and they skip across the water when he reals them in. He don't pussy foot around and fight them like I do. If they are hooked good, he drags them in like a skidder pulling logs, but wide open.
