Ok, more on my Pawn Shop bonanza.
Got one Rem 721 action with a complete bolt. No trigger but still all is good.
2 - 98 Mauser actions with bolts and enough parts to assemble them
the 95 turned out to be a 96 Mauser action and its mostly complete after I dug through the pan of loose parts...
The other two actions are going to be a thread all unto themselves I think. They both have a bolt – no they are not cut down yet. And there is way more than a few spare parts for the Mausers. And as I have had a long term illness called Mauseritis I can see work till I die with some of these. They look to be TIG welded and look to be square and straight in all ways looking at them. To me they look about right for a 222 in length, maybe a 223. They will set for a while.
I have my eyes on the 721 and the 96 right now.
On the 721, I am thinking maybe time for a 338/06. I have most of the 06 lineup as it is just a few missing. I have 25-06, 280, 30-06, 8mm-06, 35 Whelan and while not off an actual 06 I have the 9.3x64 (I use 06 brass for the cases), if I sort through a can of 06 brass I can find enough that have grown to a point needing trimmed at the 64mm and still are fine. So I think I need a 338 something or another LOL
The 96 is going back to original appearance with a new barrel turned to Mil specs. Want one for the open sight military rifle shoot at the range.
I have a 9x13 pan almost full of assorted other parts form God only knows.
4 well used 8mm Barrels, I cleaned them using electrolysis method and two are gone the others could be shoved back into service if need be.
1 8mm I will say looks new mil surp. Still got a tons of cosmo in it
1 30cal off the 721 but done hold me to that – it has been turned down for some odd reason. The bore looks good but it wont fit the 721 now, threads are gone from the turning. Mind is running in wild way with it... a barrel for stubbing maybe.
The 6.5 barrel off the swede, looks good inside but has monster wrench marks on it so it may become a stubbing spare too
and last and most certainly least a 30 cal barrel marked winchester but it has been hacksawed off at 14in – another God only knows what was going on there moment.
I gave him my number if they find any other gunsmithing stuff just give me a call and I will at least look at it and tell him what it is. He said there is still stuff in the garage, I could get blessed even more....
