Ok, rather than highjack BB's thread I will start this one. J brought forth I have been working on a if you will reloadable 22lr. I based it on the 25acp base necked down to 22lr neck diameter. My purpose was to have an option of a reloadable 22 of sorts. I do not intend to hot rod this one I want it to be the same basically as a 22lr just with the capability of being reloaded. Yes, I could have just stayed with the Hornet but really where is the fun in that and not going outside the box. While the idea is not actually mine I took it from one called the 17 skeeter. I just wasn't after the speed of that one. I figure the 22lr has enough power for small game and then add reloadable and I am happy. I have made the dies already.... I screwed up there. Should have cut the chamber then honed the dies down 002 or .003 for dies. So now I need to cut another chamber reamer. I made a simple spoon reamer so duplication will be doable. I did not say easy, I only screwed up several times on the die reamer.... The question was ask about how to change from rimfire to centerfire I have made drawings for a specific rifle but I'm sure they could be adapted to others. If I was going to hot rod this one I would want a better lock up on the bolt than the simple bolt handle system on the rifle I chose (because I have more than a couple of them for parts). I found the drawings for the conversion and will post them. So far I have not found the reamer drawings (the pitfall of using more than one computer and some of them not being connected to any other computers)... I cant be hacked if there is no cable to it. Anyways, this is on going so I did it this way to keep adding things as I get them worked out. Here are my drawings for converting the firing pin / bolt head on my chosen rifle.
As soon as I find the reamer drawing I will add it. I suppose I should take pictures of the actual work to -- to late on the forming die, but it is also going to be the sizing die. Will need to work on the seating die idea a bit more as I am using 40gr 22lr lead bullets. and the will need a crimp to hold them in place.
