i dont think about it much, having once been in the "chair force" (air force, for those of you who dont know how to poke fun properly, LMAO)
it was a short stint, it was to get money for college, it was peacetime and no one could really PICTURE the us of a actually being IN a real war...
got some cash for college, that was about it. I wasnt in long enough to get any cool benefits of any kind. I rememeber way back WHEN, i had some "PX" priveleges. I could go to a "PX" and buy reduced price stuff they had as compard to going to a regular store. Didnt GO MUCH, i didnt have a car back then, and if someone was going i might tag along... but? that was about "it".
I remember sweating out the "first gulf war" on TV... it was the "buildup in the gulf" and the buildup went on for long months. I was sitting in a BAR, and made the glib joke "I was in, and now i'm OUT... this is just entertainment to me now" and some army guy reminded me about my "inactive reserve period" all servicemen had?
LMAO... i had FORGOT about THAT, huh? I shufflled some forgotten paperwork in my moms basement, and consulted a calendar... it was CLOSE, ha ha... I circled a date on the calendar, that was my "I dont give a *&^%" date, lol... i obviously "made it" and didnt have to do anything. (not that they were activating inactive periods on anyone anyways)

after the PX thing ended one day? I really didnt ever HAVE any contact with them. A couple several years ago? I was mystified WHY i got a letter from the VA... thought hey, maybe wth all the pro-war jazz going on? Maybe i got my cool PX priveleges back? Maybe i could buy some cut-cost camo stuff?
naw... form letter explaining some nitwit had had their work laptop stolen, and their records indicated that "i might be on it", and that the nitwit wasnt SUPPOSED to have a hard drive away from work with THAT info all on it? But the nitwit DID anyways, and it got stolen... and that as their best guess, it was stolen fro the LAPTOP, not for the DATA, but... it was noted.
I got a latter from the VA today in the mailbox, i was expecting another nitwit got another laptop stolen that they werent suppoed to have 30 years of data on bu had it anyways...
it was a for to fill out because their records indicate that i might be available to get VA benefits for the health care stuff.
I had gotten same/similar stuff before, i always fileld it out, never even heard BACK cos i about knew i wasnt entitled to squat in benefits... its just nostalgic that for the rest of my life? once every several years i get a latter from the VA about somethign stupid.

it was peacetime, your only "cool" if you were in a war.
when your "job" was a computer programmer? you dont get many "service groupies chicks" talking about being a programmer, lol
all i get out of it, is a useless form letter for *whatever* every so many years. The magic of computers, they never forget.
