possum hunting video...

i dont know, I was thinking of maybe adding a "soundtrack" like some people do, to internet videos, to increase their appeal? (I was thinking of "Berlin - Take my breath away" (Love Theme from Top Gun soundtrack) as my first choice...)

so... if anyone knows how to add a "soundtrack" in the background, let me know, eh?

find it hard to believe i didnt get a single post for this... oh well... i'll have to crank my game up a notch, i DO have a reputation to uphold, after all... lol

Sure... still though, who hasn't seen this? Its kind of the "dark underbelly" of hunting or varminting. There's no getting away from it. It does exist.

Its not pretty, it just... "is".

I grew up a weird kid, and my best friend was literally the family dog, and later the family cat too. I didnt have any real friends i connected with in any substantial way until I was of "driving age"... so, any form of "hunting" seemed like it wasnt going to be my "thing".

I was well over 20 when a friend introduced me to the idea of shooting really. Oh, I had popped pop cans with a pellet rifle before? but never really got into it. And... i hadn't SHOT anything alive with one. He taught me the basics of shooting his 10-pump, then introduced the idea of shooting *birds* out of the back porch.

fun... challenging... i remember being elated when i finally GOT ONE... then i was so excited i forgot what i was going to walk UP ON and SEE when i got to it... a flopping, flapping, gasping *hot mess*. I was frozen for a few seconds... I had grown up wanting to try to help a baby bird or baby bunny that was in a bad way, and, THIS was an adult bird.

i covered my shock quickly, and really, just didnt want to look like a whuss in front of my buddy... who made a joke about administering the coup-de-grace... a thing which i performed.

i knew i had always been interested in shooting and i guess therefore hunting... THIS was definitely PART of it, and there was no getting around it. I was amazed "it" quickly went away. I learned about it, and it was called "desensitization", where you quickly de-sensitize to the unappealing stimuli.

we've all seen it, heard it, experienced it. Its not the most FUN part of our hobby, but, its definitely a part of it.
