I am at a stand still on this one.. Been looking at working up a light load for the boys using 90gr bullets and its a dismal failure. Getting the speeds I wanted but no where near the accuracy even to call it a hunting rifle. So I now have sample bullets in 25 cal that I want to test in the 250 Savage and I remember Doc saying he chased that one before.. Question is, do you remember the component mix used not the loads just what you tired. This rifle was my uncles and he never reloaded so all the shots fired from it have been using mostly the Rem 100gr PSP I am sure there have been others when he couldnt get those - I have never reloaded for it because it was a safe queen.. The boys dug it out when they out the 257 back up and now I guess we will chase it a while. The 100gr factory is a bit much on their small shoulders.. they havent said ouch but when they hand it off after 2 shots its a given it may be more than they want. They are 12 and 13 yrs old and while they are not recoil sensitive I dont want them to pick up any bad habits because of the recoil..
I have them going thru my older books for loads using what we have on the shelf.. Got a set of dies ordered from midway and that is going to slow things but that is helpful too.. gives me time to get a few other things off my plate. Been trying to get them into the books over using the phones to hunt down loads.. The internet is ok but you have to watch the "well its on the internet" thing.. Same with you tube -- the little goobs will see something nifty on there and presto we need to build one too... all it takes is a calm head to watch the same video before saying no and pointing out the flaws in the posters video...
