OK I am bored out of my gourd being cooped up and being told no shooting but..... I still managed to get some testing in albeit with pint sized shooters LOL. I took one of the new Starline cases and only sized and trimmed it.. then we loaded it with MY standard hunting charge and I let them shoot it out the shop door until it failed. Didn't anneal or polish it at all, just shoot, reload and shoot again.. They took turns and turned it into a competition but us men do that, even the pint sized ones LOL. We had to have two targets at 50yds and all my job was reload... Anyways they shot the one case 27 time before the neck split.. The primer pocket was still holding tight and shown no signs of problems on that end. I will not try to tell you how hard it was to just set and watch them have all the fun but in the end we all did have fun. I am paying for being outside to long right now, the humidity is LOW and my nose got dry so I am setting next to the humidifier right now..
I did not post the charge (will not) but its using the new Hornady 140gr SST bullets I got to test in it. The charge is .3gr under the charge that starts to show primer cratering. Now I do need to work on AOL, they have a more pointed ogive and stick out farther than the Accu-tips did and they were long... The melons did manage to get a 3/4in group of 10 on each target before the neck gave up - I told them the last shot didn't count so they tired -- I will leave it there too... One was a tad better than the other but one got cocky today.. By my best figures the rifle now has 261 shots fried thru it and the barrel still looks like glass on the inside. We did manage to use all of the M-Pro 7 bore cleaner ---- I think someone else helped use it up but got no proof... So tomorrow is a road trip plumb across town to get more, my local shop doesn't carry it yet... They have never been to Gene Sears shop yet so this should be an experience for us all LOL.. I called and made sure they have plenty and had them set me aside a case of the 28ga shells so I have some in stock.
