There are some limitations on posting pictures on freeforums that we will have to work around. If you have a photobucket account or some other picture hosting account, you can avoid the hassle.
The limitations are:
File Size:
Camera phones nowadays take larger than 1 MB pictures unless you go into the settings and lower the resolution. A resolution of 1280x1024 (1.3 MegaPixels) (1024x1280 in portrait) is more than large enough for use in a post, and will usually have a file size less than 1 MB. My phone has a default resolution of 3264x2448 (8 MegaPixels) which has a file size >2 MB. There is never a reason to post a 8 MegaPixel photo, it is simply WAY TOO LARGE for anyone's screen.
If you have Windows, you can save the picture on the computer and open it up in MSPaint and either crop it or resize it down to no more than 1280x1024, and then save it as a JPG.
Showing large picture:
You can just insert a thumbnail of the image in your post, or leave it at the end and let people click on it to see the full picture, by using the "Add Attachment" button. Most people want to show the full image in the post however. I don't know why they make it so difficult, but it can be done. This requires a little two-step dance.
Step one:
After typing what you want to say, go up to the top and click on the button that says: "Add Attachment"
Click on the "Add Files" button
Browse to your picture, select it, and then click on "Open"
Click on "Done"
Click on "Create Post"
Step two:
Click on the thumbnail at the end of the post, which will bring up the full image
Right click on the picture, and click on "Copy Image URL"
Click the "Back" button to return to the post
Click on the "Edit" button
Put the cursor where you want the image to appear in the post
Click on the "Insert Image" button
Right click on the text in the box and select "Paste" to paste in the URL of the image
Click the "Insert Image" button
Click on "Save Changes"
When you view the post, it will have the full sized image inside the post, as below:
And the thumbnail at the end. Yo have to leave the thumbnail as an attachment to a post or the image will be deleted from the server. You can attach it to one post, and show it in as many other posts as you want however. Just so it is attached to at least one post somewhere on the board.
The limitations are:
- Maximum of 3 attachments
- Maximum file size of 1 MB (which I'll explain how to handle)
- Maximum of 10 GB total for the entire site
- Picture attachments are shown as thumbnails instead of full pictures (which I'll explain how to get around below)
