The only light primer hits I ever had, and its not a common thing? Was always CCI.
Now, scientifically and statistically this is meaningless, mainly because the first and only primers I used was CCI, lol. CCI was popular when I started out and I wanted a brand I could buy anywhere.... CCI it was. Wasn't until the first great primer run I bought anything else.
Having never tested it, I observationally noted....
1 - only SOME rifles or pistol did it
2 - extra hits usually set it off
Casually (not causally, lmao) I have noticed most of the scuttlebutt bears out, if only anecdotally...IE, CCI is harder, CCI us a little bigger, etc etc.
I only had one gun, ever, that had what was considered the guns fault... An old Mauser the stock prevented the bolt from full rotation. Upon "precision inletting" with a kitchen paring knife of the bolt handle relief? It became a hundred percent.
During slow diagnosis of this Mauser? Its not only strength of spring in the bolt? You wanna check protrusion of the striker out the face.
Anecdotally? I never saw a NEW gun do this...
I would conclude, and again very very unscientifcally and unstatistically, that CCI is a little harder, and, that a slightly weak strike such that it only happens OCCASIONALLY with CCI? Is normal wear and spring stress.
Personally, and coming from someone who shot a lot and only used CCI? And used mainly all used guns? It was STILL a rare occurrence.

CCI is harder, is also borne out by people observing they were better for used semi rifles that were prone to give the occasional "double tap".
