Im a huge Berger fan and have yet to have problems making them fly great. I stopped at a gun shop today while on the road and was looking for some R33. Ive been chasing my tail in circles on my new creed and done a lot of thinking the other night. Told myself to go back to the basics and stop chasing lands / put some damn Bergers in it and act like you have some smarts. I raised hell about the price and they blew my mind. Man said that I could have one box for 38.79 but only one. They wanted 47.99.
Came home and dumped 40.7 grains of R16 in four cases and set the 140 VLD target bullet about 50 thous off the lands and let them role at 110 yards. First shoot was high and always is,, no matter what I put in it. Next three came down in a perfect clover leaf and right at 1/2 inch. Hell yeah and now I have something to work with and no stringing bull crap.
O yea,, they had five boxes of the bullets you was talking about Sevenfan. You would have to take a mortgage loan out to buy them. 61.99 ea. No typo and that's crazy. OTM Berger and I just walked away. I asked if price could be reduced and was told NO. I laughed and said IM going OTM. What was his reply and I said Over The Mountain and home.
I had a feeling that the bullet needed to be changed in my rifle and have piles of ELD's. That's why I haven't ventured into others but something had to give and I tried 2.800 to 2.870 with them also. They still made some major stringing in this barrel and don't care for that. Id rather have a 3/8 to 5/8 clover,, verses 5/8 vertical or diagonal string.
