Ok, I am considering trying to make a slab of this.. Anyone had any dealings with making it? I want a 6x6 in piece and I think it needs to be at least an inch think in a couple of places. I can build a reverse mold for what I need but I have never made any on my own. I know I can make a fiberglass one but I want one with a bit of color just in case this actually works and can be duplicated....
It's not really smithing but it is fabricating of sorts LOL.. I know it has a bonding agent and uses whatever you want in than but I need it to be fairly strong, pretty is nice but if this pans out it will be worked hard. I know we can made the same thing from the melted milk jugs but they are just than and the bushings I made form them run ok for a while but they do wear pretty quick under heavy use. There will be some closer tolerances on this dream (nightmare) so I don't want to get into remaking one to often. I was figuring using marine epoxy resin and some heavy cloth or something like that. I would just need to pack the resin and cloth in the mold and let cure before machining. The major machine work is really drill press work but it needs to be closer than a hand drill can do, so I am thinking a holding jig will be needed there too..
This is all a headache right now but its one of those I got to try now things... I would have never gave this a thought if I had just been more expedient to go thru the brothers stuff when I got it LOL...
