Ok, I guess an update is due on both the one we are rebuilding and the newer one.
First - the rebuilder is still going but at a much slower pace. I think we need 3 more patch panels that we have been cutting from old plastic drums. The son in law bought a spray can of the stuff they advertise on the tub, they is no way a real thinking person would buy that for anything more than a temporary patch at best. IMO.... He used it on a leak on their wellhouse, it did stop the drip but it is as ugly as things come. We ordered 2 gallons of the Durabak brand stuff after one of the Navy vets at the lodge told me that's what they use on their stuff so they should know what keep water out... until it gets here it is unofficially on hold.
The newer finally made it to a pond this morning, we pulled it to the one with the black crappie in it and I let the 2 older boys take her out for its first spin. Me and tater made up a few jug lines and tossed them in then he tested his fire skills LOL.. you know got to have a fire when your fishing LOL. I let the boys stay out an hour then we swapped so we could check the jugs, all 4 had a 10 to 14 in yellow cat on them and we kept them all. The water is still cold enough they are eatable LOL. No re-baiting just rolled them up. Then we did a little spinner/jig fishing and in the end it took me 20 minutes of no joking around fish cleaning to get them in some salted water. I think its close to about 7 lbs of fillets so Fresh fish for super, I think this thing should have been thought of long ago. Only problem I see with it is there is no roof to hide under LOL. I would bet during the midday times you could get plenty of water bounced sun with it. The boy did get a picture of it when we picked it up and I now have that. The seat rails have been updated to a better system than what was original which I like. We will unscrew the live well so it can be moved a little We stood it on ends end to check and see if the screws are thru and thru, nope just on the inside layer of plastic. Its a small thing but even with my big self in it with tater it floats pretty high in the water so its a keeper. I had one of these when they first came out and it was not what this one is. This one is about the same length but much wider and much more stable. I did tell the boys it is not for night fishing, they have the john boat for that and with its outriggers on it is safe enough for them to keep mom happy.
We also have Joyce's Pirogue as well, but she is kind of jealous of it. Was the last gift unk got her before he passed.
In the picture it just got a fresh coat of paint, its not nearly that new LOL.
