Its a toss of a coin these days on getting a tack driver out the box. Some Rem 700's , Tikka , Savage , Howa , Weatherby and maybe CZ is a good place to start looking if you want MOA or SUB MOA out the box. None is cheap anymore but seen what the new Moss and Ruger does with my own eyes. Wasn't impressed at all , or my bother just happened to get two junk ones. He broke down and bought a Tikka and it will plain out burn a ragged hole,, all day long. I about to fall over when he said it cost over 600 now and that was the cheapest one.
Think he said it was a T3X now and was guaranteed to do MOA, out the box. Mine was also about 12 years ago and cost 400 or less IIRC. Darn CZ's has went crazy too and them babies will shoot like heck.
Something I never understood was why Remmy changed their crown to a target SO CALLED CROWN. Heck, my older ones with the rolled over crown, shoots as good or better. Guess they had to put a target crown on them to either make up the slack for junk metal or a sales pitch. I do know, I love MOD 700's and why you may ask? Just because I know them very good and can make them shoot crazy good with very little effort. People go all out and glass bed them and lord only knows what they do. Give me one and it will shoot just as good or better in two hours and cost nothing. Ive seen many 300 to 600 dollar Mod 700's to out shoot a semi custom build. Just put a 1000 to 2000 piece of glass on it and know how to hand load / shoot.
Seen a 7mm STW smoke 2000 dollar rifles a year or so ago. The man knew what he was doing and had a freaking 500 buck rifle with a 1800 buck NightForce setting on top. Most of the time, I talk smack but kept my mouth shut when seeing the 3 shot group at 600 yards. Pop can at my house but that cats group could be covered with a damn quarter and room to spare.
