Ok, I ran a small test for my thoughts. I loaded two ea of the 180 SPH and TTSX bullets. Did this because the bearing surface is about the same. I will do a shorter bearing surface bullet later to show the differ. The TTSX has pressure reducing shanks as some say and this test, did not give the bullets time to wake up. IT WAS 50 yards but id take the TTSX over the SPH any day, even though they didn't cut holes. Barrel was getting warm also,,, so that's a biggy to me.
All was done the best I could and used Remmy brass. The TTSX load was more constant on FPS even though it grouped way differ. I knew that was coming because, its my kill anything in the world with rifle,,, out to 220 yards,,, and hit where it should for my zero in. That's the differ in boat tails with a higher B.C. VERSES FLAT BASE.
Here it be and the TTSX hasn't had time to wake up yet but the SPH will burn a hole, if I wish at 50 to 100 yards. I don't like the SPH for here because they will make you chase a deer down. NO CHASING if the TTSX hits them. Both bullets will exit with no problem but I don't chase game down unless I screw up on the trig touching. The 180 is better for big game but I love the 180 to take care of all,,, plus brush. My accurate load for this rifle is 57.8 Grains of R22 and the 180 TTSX. I just put 59 grains to show what and how two different bullets does if all is kept the same,,, other than jacket thickness, bearing surface and solid copper.
I can show the differ in many differ bearing surface bullets but don't have time right now. I assure you, its a big differ and chase all you wish on the long or short. Your RIFLE WILL TELL YOU REAL FAST.
I shall get back later because we just cleaned the computer up and im to dumb, to find the pics that I just installed.
180 SPH was 2572, 2590 and average of 2581 fps with 17.61 and 12.72
The TTSX was 2578, 2571 and 2565 for average and 12.57 // 9.21.
You can picture it in your head and the SPH was hitting a 1/4 dot but the TTSX was 1 3/4 low.
