It is 65 here today and just playing around. Should be fishing but done that yesterday. Anyway, here is what five extra minutes will do for you most of the time.
257 mag and three pieces of 270 WYB brass and FLS so the bolt shut easy. This was the bottom group. Every thing was kept the same in this simple test other than changing the brass some.
Top pic is the same brass but blown out to my chamber,, neck sized and annealed. The bolt had a wee bit of resistance when shutting. I did move the scope if you wonder why the POI is differ from the two dots. I shouldn't have done that but want to see if I can get the Accubonds to shoot as good,,,, as the Bergers at 400 yards. I think that I can and will do that another day.
Some people chase accuracy by changing the charge and seating depth of the bullet. I do to but this proves that annealing, head space and the same neck tension is needed first,, before getting into the fine tuning. Just annealing, changing the head space and neck tension made the group drop by about 1/4 inch. That might not mean much to some but it does to me. I will be back in a while and see what .003 does when changing the jump of the OGIVE to the lands with the same every thing,,, since the brass is blown out to the chamber.
DO NOT USE MY LOAD BECAUSE THAT BABY IS HOT AND FOR MY RIFLE ONLY. Seating depth was not measured because my rifle has a mile of throat and free bore. Not all WYB's is the same,, just like any rifle. I will measure the jump later but im sure it is a good .025 or more. I haven't found a bullet made that will touch the lands in this rifle so I just seat them to the shoulder / neck junction and works for me and MY RIFLE.
