Well, ok I may not find anything better. But that's the fun part of looking. I know that he and my uncle worked for a long time with this rifle for my aunt and it shoots wonderfully and according to dad if I miss a deer its all on me. Joey told me it's all about the looking for him. He loves to get his rifles to work with whatever they like. Dad has always started with something he knew and went from there most of the time his work is hard to top but it can be done. Joey is all in the 25-06 now and he has like 5 of them in all brands. He did find a newer bullet and powders that worked better than one of dads chosen loads so that is his load. I may find the same with my rifle, I am not trying to out do dad but I feel like I want to chase this rabbit as he put it. Ok I do but not to irk him or show him up, I want to learn how to do this for myself. He isn't going to be here forever, regardless of his plans. He tells us how to do stuff and has notes, my god he has notes on notes. He is a paper freak. He has old stuff written by some old time great gun guru's that he refuses to get out because he will tear them. Well they wrote those notes to be used. K and I have started scanning some of them, most are notes about some new (40yrs ago) things that should be looked at. I understand the keepsake value of them but we are not a museum and to me get them saved, then you can share them more freely. I understand that to learn what he has is not possible now, to many laws and people that will rat you out for a dime to pull some of the stunts he pulled now. Gran told us of stuff he did as a kid that would send us to prison for life now that was generally over looked then. I just want to be able to know how to reload and or dream up stuff like he does, he is working on a 25 pistol case necked down to shoot in the 22lr rifles right now. He has an old school blackboard (ok its really green) out in the gunroom that he has drawings all over it, looks like a mad scientist working on something. He does stuff like that all the time. Gran said he always has a big imagination so its easy for him. All my imagining did was get me in trouble so I kind turned it off. My kids have big ideas and sometimes he will help them screw stuff up working on them. ARG!!!!! back to work.
