Forming 30-30 into 26RLB

After much trial and error, I eventually got the sizing process working. It was so long ago, and I tried so many different things, I don't remember what the final process was. I just know I was able to start knocking them out with very little waste.  This was when I was so desperate for 6.8 SPC brass I was going to cut down the rim and use the formed 30-30 brass in my 264 RLB.   They are in a bag somewhere and I'll be glad to hunt them down and send them to you.

Here is something I was going to try, but never did because I didn't need to: Take a Lee 7-30 Waters die and cut it down to the same body length as the 26 RLB. I say Lee because they are much easier to cut off and you can get the whole set, including shellholder, for 30 bucks from Midway:

Use the shortened sizing die as an intermediate forming die. If you take out the expander, you may not need to trim first, and then trimming will be much easier with a long 7mm neck. However, leaving the expander in will help iron out and thin the neck somewhat, but you'll have to trim the brass first.

Then re-anneal.

This will leave the diameter at the shoulder a little too small, but you can blow it out with some Unique and Cream of Wheat.

I thinks its a wastes of money myself. After you anneal 10 or so,, you catch on real fast.
