We just dumped a load of washed lead onto the drying screen - a 4x4 square made with 2in angle and 1/2in expanded metal with a layer of 1/8in hardware cloth on it.. We raked it up at the ranges pistol berm.. We dump it on the drying screen use the leaf blower from underneath to blow the big light weight odd and ends away then pick out the big rocks == the kids managed to get a small pile of rose rocks this go around. Wash in the mixer - Miculek style LOL - back on the rach for a few days to dry then pick out more bigger rocks. Then build a fire in the wienie roasted pit add the end of a propane tank and melt away - pour the molten lead out into angle iron channels to cool dump trash and start again, we do add to the pot once its one the fire but a full pot will be plenty when its melted.
Then its just resmelt at what ever pace you need.. even after two melts I get scum when I flux it heavy with wood chips. But each remelt is smaller until I get it down tot he 20lb pot then it goes into the 10lb casting pot.. I know my way is anal but the kid took some to work once and had it tested for whatever extra was in it and it passed her want to knows LOL..
We shot the new toy until the barrel was declared to hot for more.. Ended up with my second dud from Bushnell -- its going back to find out what the fuzz is wrong with it.. Same as many others but this one is a joke.. It kept POI but if you even blink you would lose view and start over.. Brand new just out of the box... already sent them an email asking for shipping label and a whole page of frustration reasons I am wet... Was one of their dawn to dusk scopes - ended up robbing one of the 17HMR to actually get some trigger time. Its broke in for sure now - I didnt count but I loaded 150 rounds and I know 2 boxes are empty just not sure who many are left in the 3rd. Now I need to work on an accuracy load for it.. the function part is ok.. Only other fun thing was we had another older man get hot - we had him covered before he knew he was hot.. I guess my silliness is a good teacher for the kids.. They had him wrapped in a cold neck cloth an in the shade under a fan before I knew he was dizzy. We have a couple of ER nurses in the club and one had him cooled and wanting to shoot more while we did some painting. Bad thing was it didnt feel hot but the humidity was a high. The nurse said it could have been the UV rates too.. I know you could feel the sun on you if you stood out in it. And you know us old farts - we are going to help all we can, just we need to adjust our minds to what we can really do not what we used to do... I think we may have a visitor to the board too - one man was into the 264RLB -- even had him shooting at 200yds and smacking the 6in plate with every shot. It has become kind of no fun anymore, it just shoots where you point if you do your part.. With the girl shooting it she kept up with the local big head and his $3000 F class rifle LOL.. I had trouble keeping heart in control -- I could see the beat in the scope so I handed it off LOL..
Today was just a fun day for me no getting serious, get to do that next week - going to plant a real cash crop of soybeans LOL..
