Guess I will call this one the 26RLB-L. LOL got the barrel out of the oven and cooling now will put it back together and get a picture of it. I did have minor boo boo there too, didn't shove a slice silicone in the sight slot at rear. I did plug the screw holes and bore just let it slip by. Will find out how hard the stuff is when I file out of the slot. I tried to copy the original barrel profile so externally it looks like it is just painted. Only coated the barrel for now, the dang duracoat people went up since I bought my last batch so I ordered more of what I wanted.
It is going to keep the old stock for a while too. Boyds is telling me they are behind and it could take a while to get it cut and shipped. I held off there and decided on bedding this one. Not going to be easy, it uses one screw in the actin and the barrel band for support. Will need to figure it out on paper before I start chiseling.
I know this one can take some pressure as they build 225s on it but my mind sees just one bolt lug so it will not be hot-rodded. But it did really well for where I started, I just need to tweak that and see if I can find its accuracy load. It is using the lighter and short bullets too. The smith couldn't find his 6.5 throating reamer but no biggie, I have used the lighter, shorter bullets in the 264RLB and it acts like a Weatherby of sorts with a long lead jump. Talked to an old bench guy here and he said he used the long lead in most of his bench guns because if done properly it insures the bullet hits the rifling square and insures better accuracy, don't know just know it seems to be ok in mine.
